Why
Go to Israel Now?:
Why should
you go to Israel and why should you go now? I will propose three
main reasons first and then tell you briefly why I wrote this
small group study guide for new and returning pilgrims to the
Holy Land.
First, open
your Bible and pick a page. You will be hard pressed to find a
chapter or book that does not deal with the Jews, Israelites or
the land of Biblical Israel. If it was important enough for God
to interact for thousands of years with His chosen people there,
it should be important enough for you to spend a dozen hours in
an airplane to go experience it for yourself. And when you experience
it, you will see where Moses and Joshua led God’s people from
the desert wandering to a land flowing with milk and honey. You
will see the place where the remnants of His holiest earthly dwelling,
the Temple in Jerusalem, still stands and the lake where Jesus
walked on water. You will also see the place where He was betrayed,
crucified, buried and resurrected and will return again one day
to take you into an eternity in Heaven with Him. You will see
the Bible alive and living.
Second, there
was an immense injustice done by our Christian ancestors to this
land and to the Jewish people between the 11th and 13th centuries
through the Crusades. Though you and I bear no responsibility
for the gross misdeeds of our forefathers in the faith, there
are lasting ramifications; entire generations of modern Jews who
truly believe Christians hate them because they killed “our Jesus”.
The best way to repair this trust and win friends and believers
is to show them this is the complete opposite of the truth. You
can show them how you really feel, that you are no closer to the
Kingdom of Heaven than they are without the saving grace of Jesus
Christ. You can show them this most tangibly by supporting them,
by touring their country and supporting their unique place in
God’s divine history.
Finally, you
should go to Israel as a servant. There are thousands of Christians
living, working and ministering in twenty first century Israel.
These Christians need to feel a bond to their brother and sister
believers in America and around the world. If we do not support
those who contend for the faith in the very land where our faith
started – there may not be anyone to contend for us in the future.

are my most compelling arguments for why you should – GO ISRAEL.
